Each month Edmond Town Hall in Newtown, a free movie is hosted by Ingersoll Auto in Danbury. These can range from the movie The Fault in our Stars to the movie Earth. People looking for a fun way to hang out with friends or spend quality time with family, check out these movies.

Todd Ingersoll owner of Ingersoll Auto started the free movies as a way to give back to the community.

“I feel very strongly about giving back to the community that we work and live in. Our guests and team members are what make it enjoyable to come to work every day. The movies are a great way to bring people together-families, friends, neighbors- everyone enjoys a good movie!” Ingersoll said.

Ingersoll started this project in 2013 simply as an act of kindness attempting to reach out to as many people as possible.

“I like to live by the saying, ‘to whom much has been given, much is expected.’ I feel very fortunate to live in a great community of caring people. This is just another random act of kindness, on a bigger scale to touch as many people as we can.” Ingersoll said.

The movies are chosen based on what’s being played at the Town Hall. These movies can are latest hits for all ages, an R movie for adults. If the movie is R rated where two movies are hosted so everybody gets a chance to attend. The date and movie is chosen a year in advance by Edmond Town Hall Theatre. Typically shows are sponsored at 7:00pm on the second Saturday of each month. Occasionally they sponsor more than one showing - especially if the movie shown in the evening is an R-rated film and they are offering a different children's film during the matinee. They’ve even sponsored entire weekends before.

NHS Junior Catie Ingersoll says, “I think it’s a great opportunity that should be taken advantage of. It goes to show that giving back goes a long way. I recommend going as it is great to have a fun night out with friends or family in which everyone gets to enjoy the movie.”

While funding these movies, Todd Ingersoll strongly suggests going to these free movies as a great way to get out of the house and enjoy a good pastime with relatives or friends.

“It's a FREE activity to participate in with your family and friends. The theater was just remodeled and they have a state of the art digital projection system now as well. There's really no reason NOT to go check it out!” She said.

NHS Junior Kayla Nowak has been to this event. She says, “It was free so I liked it. I think I saw Frozen, but I’m not sure I’ve been to many movies. I went with my mom and my sister, and they liked it. The staff was very nice too” Nowak said.

To Ingersoll’s understanding, many people who attend event seem to enjoy themselves. “We have received the most wonderful cards, letters and Facebook posts on our page thanking us for the free movie nights. People from all over the area come together to enjoy a couple of hours of entertainment - a little time away from the fast-paced lives we often lead - to just sit back, relax and enjoy the show!” Ingersoll said.

NHS sophomore Anastazia Luci-Bernard has been to one of these free movies with her younger brothers. “It was a fun experience. I took my little brothers to see Godzilla and they really liked it. The staff was really sweet and nice,” Luci-Bernard said.

The Ingersoll Movies are a fun and entertaining way to get a friends and family together to have a great time and enjoy the company of each other.

As Todd Ingersoll said, “People from all over the area come together to enjoy a couple of hours of entertainment - a little time away from the fast-paced lives we often lead - to just sit back, relax and enjoy the show!”
