The State of the World

As I’m sure many of us are aware, the world we walk upon has evolved and changed immensely throughout our lives. Some may say that we have made substantial and amazing progress; others, however, may have to say that the world they see when they wake up isn’t exactly a world at all. It’s more like a failed science experiment, or in other words, just a sad place in which we all have to fend for ourselves. Why must we live in a place where we depend on war to solve our problems? Or on money? Because apparently this world can only find peace within the size of the wallet in their pocket. When was the last time you heard actual good news on the radio? When was the last time the newscaster wasn’t delivering another report on the war surging in another third world country? When the last time you could actually tell yourself, this will all be better tomorrow?

We would rather connect through a smartphone screen, than to actually see someone in person. It is clear to see that the capability of our world is exceedingly amazing. We carry amazing cleverness, but maybe more than cleverness, we need kindness. And more than technology, we need humanity. Without these qualities, the earth would be brought into an uproar. Much like how it is now. Currently, we are fighting the ISIS terrorist group, Ebola is becoming an epidemic, people are actually selling their kids to get the iPhone 6, global warming is demolishing the ecosystem, the United states is in copious amounts of debt, leaving the economy -well….can we even call it an economy anymore? All in all, this world is not exactly moving in the “right” direction. We are all victims of this thing called life, and we all have to learn to live it…together. Do not despair though, better times are never far, some things just take longer than others.

We have gone from fire to ashes. What once burned brightly and glowed with brilliance, even when in the dark, is now the flickering burnt embers of the decisions that we have made. We did this to ourselves, and I’m afraid that it is the unfortunate truth. And what about the people? Now, I am not saying that humanity is doomed…or that every breathing person on this Earth is bad. In fact, I believe that every being currently existing is beautiful beyond measure and has the capability of making this life we all endure in magnificent. It is in us, that the power lies. We must now use that power to become kinder, and to just live simply. Life is not complicated. All you have to do is breathe in and out, but sometimes that’s hard to do when you’re scared of the very air you’re breathing in. It is time for us to go back to our ground roots and perhaps start with the basics: You get what you give. So give life an opportunity to be grand.

Out of all things that possess truth, the one that remains the most significant is the fact that we do not know what will happen in the future. None of us do. We do not know what will happen in two years, two weeks, even two seconds from now. Maybe you are still reading this, or maybe your mind ventured elsewhere. What I am trying to imply is that without any source of certainty now, how can you be so certain later? We tell ourselves that everything will be okay eventually, and I pray that it will be, but how many more times must we say that until eventually becomes never? We cannot keep holding off the problems this world faces, and just rely on time to give us one more day to solve it, because the truth is that we are not guaranteed another day. There is no contract that the universe signed to grant us that extra 24 hours, so we just have to make do with the time that we are given now. This world is beautiful, and full of wondrous creations, and as much as I hate to say it, it could all go away in an instant. So if we are to fight, let us fight for a better world. If we are to create, let us create things that will only grant those with happiness. If we are to live, let us live well.
