Pop and R&B singer Bruno Mars allegedly owes $50 million to the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas due to gambling debts which were incurred in mid March 2024.

NewsNation reported this financial hardship which has burdened Mars for the past 10 years. During which he has had a residency in Las Vegas and has signed with both MGM as well as The Chelsea throughout this time.

Currently, Mars is still on a run of shows at various MGM arenas including MGM Park and The Dolby. This residency did not strike any immediate concern or seem out of the ordinary.

“We’re proud of our relationship with Bruno Mars, one of the world’s most thrilling and dynamic performers. From his shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM to the new Pinky Ring lounge at Bellagio, Bruno’s brand of entertainment attracts visitors from around the globe,” The MGM company said.

Sources have stated that Mars makes very little profit off of his recent concerts, which brings in an estimated $1.5 million each night. This information struck suspicion among fans, insinuating most, if not all, of this profit goes directly back to the MGM company.

“I would call myself a real fan, so when this news came out I was completely shocked,” NHS senior Ryan Brown said.

His most recent residency contract lasts through 2025, with concert dates within the months of May and June.

"Bruno is among the most talented performers in the world and we are excited to start a long-term relationship with him across our industry-leading portfolio of entertainment venues," President of MGM Resorts International Bill Hornbuckle said.

In hopes of making back some of this debt, Bruno Mars has recently been featured on numerous hits in many different genres. Spreading his vocal abilities into both K-Pop and Brazilian styles of music.

“I loved Bruno Mars’ music and listened to him all the time but since listening to heis most recent features it’s given me a different view on him and don’t like it,” NHS junior Lyla Kopp said.

While ethically many of his recent featured songs may not seem positive for the singer, in terms of financially Mars is seeming to be on the upside.

“I think that by stooping so low, he compromised his musical career and he should’ve found other ways to make the money back,” NHS junior Macey Arcario said.

Mars sang alongside many well-known artists including Lady Gaga in “Die With a Smile,”and with Black Pink in “APT.”

“He’s such a good artist, but has fallen off since he stopped producing his own music. I wish he stuck to his original music,” Ava Rochester said.

While it is clear that the pop artist has been working overtime to clear his name of these debts, based on the timeline and his history it may be a while before he puts out any original music.
