Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul

After Mike Tyson was defeated by Jake Paul in 8 rounds, chaos erupted. After winning the first two rounds, Tyson lost the last 6, leading a lot of fans with many questions about the fight.

Many fans questioned the legitimacy of the fight, with people speculating that the fight was a publicity stunt and some going farther to say that the fight was fixed.

“I think that it's preposterous that a 58-year-old man with arthritis and the known weed business and affection for it is in a pro fight in a major jurisdiction and pretending it's a real boxing match," said boxing promoter Lou DiBella Jr.

At the final stare down the day before the fight, Jake Paul entered Tysons space, to which Tyson responded with a slap.

"It's personal now. He must die!” Paul rebutted.

Online, many fans gave their thoughts on the fight after Paul won.

“This fight was rigged. Mike Tyson turned up for the 20 million dollar payday and Jake Paul gets a win over Mike,” twitter user _YEOO said.

“I think it was rigged. It was just a paygrab. Definitely not a serious fight,” Newtown Sophomore Sam Kirshner said.

Most Valuable Promotions released a statement directed to complaints about the fights legitimacy, calling them illogical and insane.

“"Both fighters in good faith performed to the best of their abilities with the goal of winning the fight," the statement read. "There were absolutely no restrictions -- contractual or otherwise -- around either fighter. Each boxer was able to use his full arsenal to win the fight. Any agreement to the contrary would violate TDLR (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations) boxing rules."

Unlike the standard rules of 3 minute rounds and 10 ounce gloves, the rounds were 2 minutes and 10 ounce gloves. Grey Johnson, chief marketing director for BoxRec, echoed how strange the modification was.

“This is the first men's professional fight I can remember that will have two-minute rounds in the United States, though the practice historically isn't uncommon in other countries such as the United Kingdom," Johnson said.

The fight to many overall was a disappointment. Tyson was considered a shell of his former self and faded fast after the first two rounds, and threw less punches in the later rounds of the fight.

A lot of fans voiced complaints of the fight due to Netflix's lag and constant interruptions.  Over 85,000 viewers reported on the website down director that they were having issues with Netflix. To pile on, the fight was very late and considered underwhelming.

This doesn't ignore the fact that the bout was extremely successful for Netflix. The fight peaked with more than 65 million viewers concurrently, and the stadium sold out with 72,300 people in attendance to watch the fight.

The co-main event featured a rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano for the super lightweight world championship. Taylor defended the championship with a 95 to 94 final score, and the fight was the most watched women's sporting event in U.S history, drawing a total of 74 million viewers globally.

The loss lowers Tysons all time record to 50-7-2, but most likely does nothing to his legacy. If anything, the fact people thought he could win despite being nearly 60, and over 30 years older than Paul speaks volumes about how good he was in his prime, 30 years ago..

As for Tyson, this victory still doesn’t answer questions about his legitimate boxing skills. Going the distance with a 58 year old could be considered unimpressive to some, even though he got the win. Paul will improve to 11-1, with his one loss to boxer Tyson Fury.
