The Epstein Trials

Documents containing the names of those who visited Jeffrey Epstein's private island

were officially revealed to the public on , following a court ruling demanding the information be released, as a part of the Gislaine Maxwell trial.

Jeffrey Epstein, who killed himself in 2019 after pleading not guilty to sex trafficking underage girls, owned a private island in the Caribbean, which was allegedly the headquarters for his alleged sex trafficking. Epstein was registered as a sex offender in 2001, but was brought back into the court system in 2019 for the sex trafficking charges. These charges were for crimes done in tandem with the Gislaine Maxwell trial, which is being resumed today.

During the 2019 trial, a mostly redacted list of those who visited the island was revealed, with the main attraction being the names of some US Presidents, British Royalty, and members of Hollywood.

The list has revealed those that were allegedly trafficked to the island, those that were there for strictly business purposes, those that visited without poor intentions, such as for a dinner, and those who engaged in the alleged trafficking and abuse.

“I think it's really important to just see how deep this goes. There is probably so much more to it than we know now or could ever know,” NHS senior Riley Deloughy said.

Those invested in the case are warning the public that a multitude of the released names, "really are of innocent people. It's people who may have been employed, it's people who may have gone to dinner or to a cocktail party at Jeffrey Epstein's home. It is not necessarily naming people who have engaged in actions that were anything like the deplorable actions of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell,” CBS News Legal Analyst Rikki Klieman.

The main interest in the case is not just those who were involved in business with Epstein, but the celebrities who do not want their name stained. Although it is possible that those who visited the island were not aware of the alleged trafficking, Epstein has a long history of sexual misconduct.

In 1999, Epstein allegedly forced an underage girl to have sex with Prince Andrew. In 2002 he was accused of raping a high school student in New York. In 2006 he was found guilty of rape, however despite the victim being a minor, it was not included in his charges. Up until 2019 he faced multiple more lawsuits nearly all relating to sexual assault towards minors. He also had multiple accusations in 2001, although they did not gain much traction or attention.

Because of this, many believe that politicians or public figures would have known about this prior to visiting a private island, which has raised suspicions towards which visitors had engaged in the trafficking. “Honestly it would just be really interesting to see where this goes, who else is involved that we don't know about yet,” NHS senior Connor Sinapi said.

Some on the internet have taken to betting whose names will appear on the list, with some popular picks being Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, Donald Trump and Stephen Hawking.

“There's definitely some names on there I wouldn’t expect. Especially someone like Steven Hawking, I don't really know if he could be involved with the trafficking at all,” NHS senior Jason Wasilnak said.
