Tyler The Creator's New Album

Tyler, the Creator’s newest album entitled ‘Chromakopia’ was released on October 28. This latest album is all arranged, written, and produced by himself. The album is a mid-life memoir about his accomplishments, hopes, and fears.

The album is a 14-song tracklist incorporating 8 features from Daniel Caesar, Childish Gambino, Lil Wayne, GloRilla, Teezo Touchdown, Doechii, Schoolboy Q, and Sexyy Red. Tyler, the Creator released the album without including the names of the features in the song titles or next to his name.

“He most likely didn’t include the names, because the album is solely about him,” NHS sophomore Mauricio De La Garza said.

American rapper and record producer, Tyler, the Creator’s entire album discography has been released in intervals of two years. The time between his sixth studio album, Grammy award winner Call Me If You Get Lost, and his new album “Chromakopia” is 3 years.

“It was not worth the three year wait,” NHS sophomore Lahja Kurjiaka said when asked about their opinion on the album.

12 days previous to the album's release date, Tyler, the Creator dropped a teaser on his social media platforms called “St. Chroma.” The teaser was a few lines long  and in doing so also incorporated some beats and instrumental.

“The marching beat of St. Chroma is good, but this album doesn’t top any other Tyler album,” De La Garza said.

This teaser quickly became a fan favorite. “I would definitely recommend St. Chroma,” Kurjiaka said.

Five days after the teaser, Tyler released a single from his new album called “Noid” on all music streaming services. The song's main topic is about how he is paranoid, and fears what being famous would bring, and the danger that comes with it. The seventh song on the album “Judge Judy” almost immediately got recognition for making a reference to Tyler’s old song called “Dogtooth,” a fan favorite, by repeating its most iconic verse.

The album's release date, October 28, was on Frank Ocean’s, (who is an American singer) birthday. This raised suspicion among fans that he would finally be releasing new music, or at least be featured.

Photos were leaked on Tiktok of Tyler, the Creator, in a hotel room with headphones in front of a small piano and papers. One of the photos had Kanye West, American rapper and record producer, and Frank Ocean together smiling. This brought to listeners attention that these two artists would be featured on the album.

“I was really disappointed when Frank Ocean wasn’t on the album, I thought he was going to be,” Kurjiaka said.
