Impact of War

American lives and the country as a whole are greatly impacted by the war in Iran. Operation Epic Fury was initiated in Iran and designed to dismantle the regime’s security, especially the Iran nuclear program. The U.S. plan is to weaken the country of Iran by going after its economic sanctions although this ultimately impacts U.S. economic businesses and all the other countries that trade with Iran. The U.S is worried about the safety in Iran because their heavy military action in the Middle East is constantly a threat. This involves the U.S. sending more troops to protect our interests, which can lead to  U.S. soldiers dying. Iran has supported groups that threaten the  U.S. interests and this leads to the danger of terrorist attacks. This is because Iran has also been cyberattacking U.S. businesses and infrastructure which adds to the security risk and leaves American people in danger. The most noticeable change we see is the price at the gas tanks, up to $3.35 at time of publication. Most Americans point to gas prices as an area of major economic concern. Iran is a key oil producer and due to wartime restrictions, oil prices have risen, meaning more Americans are going to be paying more at the pump and for other goods and services. That also affects the American government’s budget because they have to spend more on defense because of the conflict. This, over time, can lead to less money for very important programs like healthcare and education for Americans. This provides a domino effect because when healthcare and education costs cause issues for Americans it shows how everything that involves government programs are connected. With this major conflict having such widespread implications, then everything is off course.

“ It definitely sucks that we are going to war with them but I wouldn’t be mad if we put them in their place because they deserve it. But it also sucks that the gas is gonna go up because it's hard enough to pay for gas as it is then you bring this into the picture just sucks,” NHS Junior Graham Spencer said.

With all the spending on the war, pretty much everything is going up in price at a rapid rate. The government has to spend on the military in order to protect all Americans. The protection of Americans is the biggest priority.  In addition,  there are also many refugees coming from Iran trying to get into the U.S. and this has further increased  the debates among Americans over the management of illegal immigrants coming to our country.  This exacerbates that issue and further affects everyday American people if we let in all Iranian people that are trying to get into the U.S.

“Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people. Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas, and our allies throughout the world," President Of the United States Donald J. Trump said.

The number one job that the government has to keep the United States citizens safe from the Iranian Militia and any terrorist attacks. The plan that Trump has is to take over Iran and let their people live free and not under government control.

The average American also has to significantly worry about finances.  With the war going on,  businesses are going to be very cutthroat. Early projections are that hiring will slow and in fact there are possibilities that many may lose jobs due to all of the uncertainty.  Also the stock market will certainly have its ups and downs; with this instability individuals 401K plans  fluctuate in value because the financial markets are so unstable.

“ I mean right now as a 18 year old, there really has but not much change in the world and the only really big thing that I see is the gas prices going up. But I feel like that's the only thing I really buy, like I don’t know if the groceries are going up or the cost of clothes because I don't buy them myself. I would say for the average teen you don't have much to worry about,  it’s  mostly adults who have to worry about these things,” NHS Senior Cole Stockwell.

The major concerns for everyday Americans are obviously first and foremost safety concerns along with the increases in energy costs.  There is a genuine possibility that these greater expenses and economic uncertainty will lead to greater inflation which can further the recession.  The hope is that the price spikes will be temporary and American and global security and freedoms will be protected in the long term.
